In an effort to raise awareness about online child safety, the International Foundation for Digital Competency (IFDC) conducted a seminar on 27 September 2024 for the students of Handapangoda Maha Vidyalaya. The session, attended by students from grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, focused on educating young learners about the dangers lurking in the digital world.

The two-hour session emphasized how online offenders target children for sexual exploitation. Students were informed about the various tactics used by online predators, including grooming, sexting, sextortion, cyber harassment, and other forms of online child sexual abuse.

To make the session more engaging and educational, IFDC employed a quiz-based approach and storytelling techniques, enabling students to better understand how to protect themselves from such threats. This initiative is part of IFDC’s ongoing efforts to promote safer online environments for children and equip them with the knowledge to prevent and tackle these challenges.
