Meet the Cohort 2025 of IFDC's Online Child Protection Advocate Programme. These advocates work with children, parents, and communities across Sri Lanka to promote responsible internet use, digital well-being, and children's rights in the digital environment.

Jeeshan Imrath

Online Child Safety Advocate (2025–2026)

Jeeshan Imrath is IFDC's Online Child Safety Advocate (2025–2026) and a graduate of IFDC's first Online Child Protection Advocate Programme, where she achieved Merit Excellence. She is committed to promoting responsible internet use, child protection, and safer digital engagement among young people.

Professionally, Jeeshan is a Town Planner at the Urban Development Authority, working in urban planning, development management, social inclusion, and community development. She holds a BSc. (Hons) in Town and Country Planning from the University of Moratuwa and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration and Management at the University of Colombo.

She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Town Planners, Sri Lanka (ITPSL), a member of the Young Professionals Forum (YPF), and a certified Mental Health First Aider through MHFA England. She is passionate about integrating urban development, social inclusion, and child protection to build resilient and people-centred communities.

Kavindya Wickramanarayana

Kavindya Wickramanarayana

Child Online Safety Advocate

Kavindya Wickramanarayana is a recent graduate and child online safety advocate. She is a member of IFDC's Online Child Protection Advocate Programme, where she strengthens her commitment to promoting safer digital spaces for children and young people.

Kavindya holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communication Studies from the Eastern University of Sri Lanka. She works as an entrepreneur, scriptwriter, short film director, and journalist, bringing experience in media production, storytelling, and public communication.

She is passionate about youth digital literacy, child online safety, and responsible online behaviour. Through creative communication and digital content design, she develops engaging messages that promote safer and more positive online experiences for children and young people.

Fathima Nasriya

Fathima Nasriya

Digital Mental Health Mentor and Advocate

Fathima Nasriya is IFDC's Digital Mental Health Mentor and Advocate, specialising in supporting children and young people to develop healthier relationships with technology and balance digital and offline life. She is a Counselling Psychologist and Career Analyst with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology, complemented by professional qualifications in counselling, psychotherapy, and career analysis. A member of the Sri Lanka National Institute of Professional Counsellors and the Sri Lanka National Association of Counsellors, Fathima is passionate about promoting emotional well-being, digital resilience, and empowering children, young people, and families through education, counselling, and advocacy.

Child Online Safety Advocate

W.P.L. Ranathunga is a child online safety advocate and a graduate of IFDC's Online Child Protection Advocate Programme, committed to promoting responsible digital engagement and children's rights in the digital environment. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has studied Law and International Relations, and currently serves as a Temporary Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya. He is also pursuing a Master of Public Administration and Management at the University of Colombo. His interests include governance, research, psychology, leadership, and community engagement, with a strong commitment to creating positive social change through education and advocacy.

Pehansa Wijenayaka

Pehansa Wijenayaka

Mental Health & Child Online Safety Advocate

Pehansa Wijenayaka is an undergraduate psychology student, mental health advocate, writer, and child online safety advocate. As a member of IFDC's Online Child Protection Advocate Programme, she promotes children's rights in digital spaces, online well-being, and responsible digital participation through advocacy and writing.

Pehansa is currently pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Staffordshire (UK). She has completed an International Diploma in Psychology and Counselling, a Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychology, and is certified in Psychological First Aid through the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Through her volunteer work and blog writing, she is committed to advancing mental health awareness and creating safer, more inclusive digital environments for children and young people.

Riyada Helakumara

Riyada Helakumara

Digital Mental Health & Child Well-being Advocate

Riyada Helakumara brings valuable experience in digital mental health and child well-being as an advocate committed to supporting children and young people in navigating the challenges of the digital world. As part of IFDC's Online Child Protection Advocate Programme, she promotes healthy digital habits, emotional resilience, and online safety.

Riyada is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology and Counselling and conducts mental health and counselling programmes in schools and community settings. She has completed studies in Drug Counselling, Child Psychology, and Special Needs Education. Passionate about supporting children and families, she believes that education, empathy, and early intervention are key to building healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.

Sumudu Kawinda Rathnapala

Sumudu Kawinda Rathnapala

Child Online Safety Advocate

Sumudu Kawinda Rathnapala is a committed child online safety advocate and a graduate of IFDC's first Online Child Protection Advocate Programme. He works closely with young people to promote responsible internet use, children's rights in digital environments, and positive online engagement.

Sumudu is an IT Instructor, youth advocate, and community leader with a strong commitment to community resilience and youth well-being. He also serves as a Dhamma School teacher and uses his fluency in Sinhala, English, and Tamil to engage diverse communities. Combining his expertise in technology, digital design, and community service, he is passionate about fostering safer digital spaces and supporting the healthy development of children and young people.
